The timing belt keeps the crankshaft and camshafts in sync. If it snaps, valves hit the pistons and the engine is destroyed — one of the most expensive failures a car can suffer. This is the one service that should never be postponed.
Replacement intervals vary by engine, typically 60,000–120,000 km or 5 years. In a hot climate like Alanya and with short-trip driving, rubber ages faster — so the time limit matters even if the mileage isn't reached.
We replace the timing belt as a complete KIT: belt, tensioner, idler pulleys and usually the water pump together. Replacing only the belt while leaving an old bearing in place means paying for the same labour again shortly after.
Many BMW, Mercedes and Porsche engines use a timing CHAIN instead. A chain is theoretically lifetime, but tensioner and guide-rail failures are common. A rattle on cold start is the classic warning sign of a worn chain tensioner — have it checked immediately.
During the job, engine timing is locked with proper factory tools and assembled to manufacturer torque specs. The drive belt (alternator/A-C belt), tensioner and pulleys are inspected in the same operation.
